Jimmy Kimmel said the economy under President Donald Trump has quickly taken a turn for the worse with the stock market falling and prices rising.
“The price of coffee is higher than ever,” Kimmel noted. “And this is before the tariffs hit!”
CBS News said coffee prices reached an all-time high last month, with ground coffee hitting $7.38 a pound at retail, due poor growing conditions in a number of key regions.
As Kimmel noted, that was was before Trump’s on-again, off-again tariffs, which could trigger even bigger price hikes given that most of the coffee sold in the U.S. is imported.
“Can you imagine the mental-health crisis we are gonna have in this country if people can’t afford coffee in the morning?” Kimmel said. “The number of workplace stabbings is about to go through the roof!”
