But the “Tonight Show” host saw a hilarious motive behind the move, which has sparked a trade war and caused markets to plummet.

“Trump’s new tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China went into effect, and they’re gonna raise the price of everything from cars to electronics to clothes,” Fallon said, leaning on reports about the likely impact on retail goods.

“It’s all part of Trump’s plan to make everything more expensive so eggs seem cheaper by comparison,” he quipped.
