NextImg:JD Vance Would've Done For Trump What Mike Pence Refused To Do
LOADINGERROR LOADING

Former President Donald Trump has never really forgiven his vice president, Mike Pence, for refusing to overturn the 2020 election, but he apparently won’t have that problem with Sen. JD Vance should he be reelected.

The Republican Ohio senator refused to outright say he wouldn’t have certified the election results had he been vice president on Jan. 6, 2021, but implied as much in a conversation Monday with hosts of the “All-In Podcast.”

Vance said he would have gone along with the plan to have states allow slates of fake electors to be submitted and therefore subvert the election process.

“I would have asked the states to submit alternative slates of electors and let the country have the debate about what actually matters and what kind of an election that we have,” he said, later adding: “The important part is we would have had a big debate. And it doesn’t necessarily mean the results would have been any different, but we would, at least, have had the debate in Pennsylvania and Georgia about how to better have a rational election system where legal ballots are cast.”

There is no evidence that large-scale voter fraud occurred in Pennsylvania, Georgia or elsewhere during 2020.

Although Vance has made this statement before, the fact that he is now much closer to actually having the opportunity to subvert an election aroused the ire of many users of X, formerly Twitter.

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) condemned Vance’s theory as “illegal and unconstitutional” and provided a lengthy explanation as to why.

Let’s be clear: This is illegal and unconstitutional. The American people had voted. The courts had ruled. The Electoral College had met and voted. The Governor in every state had certified the results and sent a legal slate of electors to the Congress to be counted. The Vice… https://t.co/8OVgVLh8Ol

Others followed suit.

"I would have asked the states to cheat in our favor"

These people freely admit to wanting to rig elections

To paraphrase:
Q: Would you have committed a felony?
A: Sure. @JDVance https://t.co/lsO2s8Z6kC

Vance is saying that he would have willingly entered a criminal conspiracy

If he would’ve done it then, he’ll do it if he takes power

The country already had that debate. It was called Election Day. Your side lost. https://t.co/MaDtzOosJr

The normalization within the GOP of Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election, which - remember - was rejected by both Democratic and Republican election officials, is remarkable and deeply concerning for this year’s vote. https://t.co/EthQWJmTsw

This is just lawless anti-State sovereignty nonsense. The several States DID submit their electors. They were, in total, sufficient to elect President BIden. You don't get to upend state sovereignty / unilaterally declare a re-do in a separate forum just because you lost. https://t.co/EVE0YZLJAN
