NextImg:JD Vance's Greenland Announcement Slammed As 'Imperial Cosplay'
LOADINGERROR LOADING

Vice President JD Vance was mocked and accused of “imperial cosplay” on social media following his announcement that he will accompany his wife, second lady Usha Vance, on what will now be a scaled-down visit to Greenland ― where they will visit the U.S. Space Force outpost at Pituffik ― this Friday.

In a video, Vance explained he would “check out how things are going there.”

“Speaking for President Trump,” he said, referencing the president’s increasing rhetoric about seizing control of the Danish self-governing territory, Vance continued: “We want to reinvigorate the security of the people of Greenland because we think it’s important to protecting the security of the entire world.”

Looking forward to visiting Greenland on Friday!???????? pic.twitter.com/p3HslD3hhP

The majority of critics, though, pointed out that neither Vance nor his wife had actually been invited to the country that Trump has now repeatedly insisted should be part of America.

You are visiting the people you insult. It’s rich you talk about people “threatening Greenland.” You should hear yourself.

Also, stop using signal to talk about extremely sensitive information regarding national security.

Now JD Vance going to Greenland! ????♀️ READ THE ROOM… YOU ARE NOT WELCOME ????

LadyLeeds (@ladyleeds.bsky.social) 2025-03-26T08:18:11.759Z

Can you stay there?

— Jo (@JoJoFromJerz) March 25, 2025

JD Vance is off to Greenland—because nothing says ‘diplomacy’ like treating a sovereign territory like it’s on the clearance rack at Walmart. This isn’t governance; it’s a geopolitical tantrum from an administration that thinks the world is their Monopoly board. The Trump crew’s…

— Mike Young ???????????????????????????? (@micyoung75) March 25, 2025

Please, stay away. Treat your ally with respect and acknowlegde that you are not welcome. Greenland doesn’t want to be a U.S territory in any shape or form.

— Frederik Bloch Münster (@FrederikMnster) March 25, 2025

Great! While you’re there, maybe take a moment to explain why America’s Vice President is treating a peaceful, self-governing territory like it’s up for grabs on Zillow.

Greenland isn’t some empty square on a Monopoly board. It has people. A culture. A government. And guess…

— Gandalv (@Microinteracti1) March 25, 2025

You are clearly not welcome in the Kingdom of Denmark - neither by Greenlandic officials nor by Denmark. This is highly disrespectful, and we ask that you stay away unless invited.

As even Danish officials have stated in this comment section , you are not welcome.

Were you even invited?

— Kadi???????????? (@TheFl0orIsLaVa) March 25, 2025

Can’t let Usha go on her own, she might stay pic.twitter.com/t7GpEA6Gqx

— PatriotTakes ???????? (@patriottakes) March 25, 2025

We are not looking forward to your visit. It is unheard of - you are not invited.

— Jan E. Jørgensen (@JanEJoergensen) March 25, 2025

You’ll be about as popular as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip fella. https://t.co/lI4ZqpBaXv

— Dave Throup (@DaveThroup) March 25, 2025

JD is turning U.S. foreign policy into a MAGA reality show.
Greenland didn’t invite him. Denmark condemned the trip. He’s not ‘visiting’, he’s staging a power grab with zero respect for sovereignty.

This isn’t diplomacy. It’s imperial cosplay.

— No Kings Here (@Stop_Project25) March 25, 2025

Nobody wants you there, bro.

— Art Candee ???????? (@ArtCandee) March 25, 2025

He wasn’t even invited.

And the democratic govt of the people of Greenland (both outgoing and incoming) were angry about even his wife visiting.

That’s how much he cares about the people of Greenland. https://t.co/JJGZoOvCBO

— Mike Galsworthy (@mikegalsworthy) March 26, 2025

This isn’t diplomacy but a performative arrogance dressed up as a couples' getaway.

JD Vance brushing off Greenland's Prime Minister as if international relations are a photo-op shows a dangerous lack of respect for sovereignty and basic statecraft.

If a foreign leader…

— ShawnDesouza ???????????????????????????? (@shawndesouza) March 25, 2025

The people of Greenland need to show jd and usha Vance they don't want them there. jd claims he's going to inspect the military base. BS!
