Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) called her Republican colleagues “wusses” for refusing oversight on President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk, who is leading Trump’s efforts to cut spending and shrink the government workforce.

Crockett, who sits on the DOGE subcommittee ostensibly overseeing Musk’s work, recalled trying to subpoena him.

“You know who didn’t even want to debate it?” she asked MSNBC’s Alex Witt. “The Republicans.”

She explained:

“Not only did they shut it down, but they wouldn’t allow us to engage in debate because they really don’t have an explanation for why we would have an entire subcommittee that is supposed to sit atop this organization, or whatever it is because it’s not really an organization, and they don’t want to bring in the guy that is the face of it.”

Witt asked if it could be that Republican lawmakers are afraid of Musk and Trump.

“I don’t know if they’re afraid,” Crockett said. “I just think they’re wusses.”

Crockett said GOP members of Congress have “castrated their Constitutional duties” when it comes to oversight over Trump and Musk.

“You’ve got Republicans that will only move, or as we used to say, jump whenever Donald Trump says ‘jump’ or Elon says ‘jump,’ and it’s usually ‘how high.’” she said.

She said subcommittee hasn’t gotten any answers on what Musk and his crew have been up to, and indicated that it hasn’t accomplished anything.

“DOGE is just something for Marjorie Taylor Greene to sit atop and make it seem like she’s important,” she said. “We ain’t doing nothing.”

Greene, a GOP lawmaker from Georgia, is chair of the subcommittee.
