Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) tore apart the GOP-majority House Oversight’s DOGE subcommittee on Wednesday by playing a simple game: “Trump or trans.”
“You ready?” she asked Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center, during Graves’ testimony at the subcommittee’s “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” hearing.
Crockett called on Graves to determine if transgender people or President Donald Trump — who, like other Republicans, has made trans athletes a focus of attacks in recent years — bore responsibility for any action she named.
Her first category? Someone who “gutted medical research.”
“Trump,” Graves promptly replied.
“Kidnapping Americans and sending them to foreign countries, a.k.a. ‘deporting them,’” Crockett continued.
“Trump,” Graves again responded.
Crockett went on to give further clues as she described someone “driving” Americans into a recession, “waging an idiotic tariff war,” “ignoring the Constitution,” “cutting health care,” firing government workers who “keep our country safe” and “encouraging an environment of hate and divisiveness.”
Graves gave Trump’s name for all her answers before the congresswoman continued, noting that the “Delivering On Government Efficiency” subcommittee — instead of focusing on an anti-trans agenda — could instead look at “actual” instances of “waste, abuse and mismanagement” in the federal government.
Crockett swiftly provided a visual example of what she considered wasteful spending as an aide brought out a massive placard showing how Trump is using tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to fund golf outings in his second term.
“In fact, President Trump is on pace to spend more than a billion dollars of taxpayer dollars just on golfing. Yet the Republicans have been silent,” she declared.
“So they must think spending taxpayer dollars on the president’s golfing trips is more important than providing health care to their constituents.”
