A woman in Ann Arbor, Michigan, got a surprise when she answered the doorbell recently.

That’s because she found herself face-to-face with Oscar-winning actor Jane Fonda, who was in town canvassing for Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.

Actually, closer than face-to-face, as the video below opens with the woman and Fonda sharing a hug.

“Makes me want to cry,” the unidentified woman tells Fonda.

“This is such an important election,” Fonda replies, adding that she’s “doing everything I can. I’ve never done this for a president. We have to get [Harris and Walz] elected.”

Fonda also spoke Monday night to a crowd at a campaign office, where she emphasized the importance of dealing with global climate change.

“We can’t lose four years,” Fonda said, according to MLive. “We have to cut our emissions in half by 2030. We’re going in the wrong direction, and we’re going to be galloping in the wrong direction if Trump gets elected. We cannot allow that to happen.”

On Tuesday, Fonda also participated in a climate talk on the University of Michigan campus.

Meanwhile, many social media posts expressed appreciation for Fonda’s canvassing call and wished she’d visit their home as well.

Oh my! Come to my town please! ????????????????

I don’t think many men understand just what is moving us “women of a certain generation” to tears. We’ve been waiting for a long, long time for this. It feels possible and we are done being disappointed.

Every now and then something cuts thru all of the chaos. This did that today for me. Being in a constant state of outrage is exhausting but we will win. All hands are on deck and when we are done, we will have left it all on the field. ????????

@Janefonda you're amazing! I still smile when I think of your talk with @JuliaLouisDNet in "Wiser Than Me". I'm 63 now and it gave me so much! THANK YOU.
