Actor Issa Rae has canceled her show at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall after President Donald Trump overhauled the performance center last week.

Rae thanked her fans for selling out her March 16 one-night-only event “An Evening With Issa Rae,” which was described as “a night of cozy vibes, big laughs, and all the nostalgic feels” before explaining why she canceled the show.

“Unfortunately, due to what I believe to be an infringement on the values of an institution that has faithfully celebrated artists of all backgrounds through all mediums, I’ve decided to cancel my appearance at this venue,” Rae, who is known for her show “Insecure,” wrote on Instagram on Thursday just one week after tickets went on sale.

All tickets will be refunded and she thanked ticket buyers for understanding. The Kennedy Center did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On Monday, Trump fired 18 board members of the Kennedy Center who were appointed by former President Joe Biden. On Wednesday, he wrote on Truth Social that he was “unanimously” elected chair of the board. After the announcement that he was elected chair of the board, several board members announced that they had stepped down from the board, including television producer Shonda Rhimes and singer-songwriter Ben Folds. The board is now entirely made up of appointees from Trump.

The Kennedy Center, named after former President John F. Kennedy, opened in 1971 in Washington, D.C., and hosts a wide array of genres of performance art.

Trump has been outspoken about the Kennedy Center’s drag shows.

“Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP,” Trump wrote on Truth Social last week. “The Kennedy Center is an American Jewel, and must reflect the brightest STARS on its stage from all across our Nation. For the Kennedy Center, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!”
