


A Canadian woman lit up social media on Monday with an unfiltered comment about her neighboring country’s leader.
Asked why she was voting in her nation’s election, the unnamed woman in Ottawa said her decision was all about President Donald Trump.
“I think who I voted for would be the best to take care of Trump,” she said. “Because Trump is, I’m sorry to say, an asshole, and he shouldn’t even be president of the United States. But because he is, we need a strong person so that we can stand strong.”

Canada’s Liberal Party, which was sinking in the polls only months ago, won the election on Monday, ensuring that Prime Minister Mark Carney will remain the nation’s leader.
The victory is a remarkable turnaround driven in part by Trump. As Trump attacked and insulted the nation, calling for it to become a U.S. state, Canadian voters increasingly rejected the Conservative Party and its leader, Pierre Poilievre, a populist seen by some as borrowing from Trump’s playbook.
