Conservatives lashed out online Tuesday after the House GOP’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) dared to share a post that was partially written in Spanish.

“We speak English here” was a common response from furious right-wing critics.

Some commenters questioned whether the House Republican Conference’s account had been hacked, while others angrily demanded that whoever was responsible for the post be fired.

House Republicans believe in every American’s potential to thrive by embracing the power of work.

Los Republicanos en la Cámara creemos en que cada ciudadano americano tiene el potencial de prosperar y beneficiarse de las oportunidades de trabajo.

Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) led the chorus of right-wing outrage, posting: “Is this a joke, @HouseGOP? We’re in America. We represent Americans. We don’t pander in foreign languages. Speak English.”

Is this a joke, @HouseGOP?

We’re in America. We represent Americans.

We don’t pander in foreign languages.

Speak English. https://t.co/nmqYrapGBM

Several accounts referenced President Donald Trump’s executive order designating English as the official language of the United States.

That followed his administration’s shuttering of the Spanish language version of the official White House website within hours of his return to office.

The @HouseGOP account has faced similar backlash before for posting in Spanish, most notably after it congratulated “presidente Donald Trump y vicepresidente JD Vance” after their inauguration in January.

Felicidades, presidente Donald Trump y vicepresidente JD Vance.
