“Ladies and gentlemen, I just want to say after surviving the PTSD of the last presidential debate, how unbelievably refreshing it is to go back to the same old ‘nobody’s gonna answer any fucking questions,’” he said. “We’re back! America’s back!”
Stewart mockingly welcomed a return to cliches and baseless accusations.
But he also found a few moments that stuck out ― including one that came when the two candidates were asked about abortion rights as Trump has repeatedly taken credit for overturning Roe v. Wade due to the three far-right justices he appointed to the Supreme Court.
Trump on Tuesday falsely claimed “Democrats, Republicans, and everybody else, and every legal scholar” wanted Roe v. Wade overturned and the issue turned over to the states.
Stewart called that “insanely false” then played a clip of Harris’ firing back:
“I have talked with women around our country. You wanna talk about this is what people wanted? Pregnant women who want to carry a pregnancy to term, suffering from a miscarriage, being denied care in an emergency room because the healthcare providers are afraid they might go to jail, and she’s bleeding out in a car in the parking lot? She didn’t want that.”
“Holy shit,” Stewart said in awe. “She crushed that!”
Stewart had more highlights ― and a few low points ― in his Tuesday night monologue:
