Republican Arizona Mayor Endorses Harris, Calls Trump ‘Serious Threat To Our Nation’
“Arizona leaders like McCain and Sen. Mark Kelly have embodied the commitment to country over party. And it’s that same high caliber of character and leadership I see in Vice President Harris,” wrote Giles, who has served as mayor of Mesa since 2014.
In outlining his support, Giles credited the Biden-Harris administration with improving public infrastructure and transit systems, and adding thousands of new jobs within the state’s semiconductor industry through federal funding.
“Under Trump, American cities didn’t get the support they deserved. Infrastructure week was made into a joke,” he said, while also noting Trump's successful efforts to squash a bipartisan border proposal in the Senate earlier this year.
He said Harris will restore and protect the rights of women and fight against gun violence. Trump “would roll back our rights and freedoms,” he said.
“Trump poses a serious threat to our nation. We can’t have a felon representing us on the national stage, let alone one who would threaten to abandon NATO and ruin our standing abroad,” he went on. “We can choose a future for our children and grandchildren based on decency, respect and morality — or succumb to the crudeness and vulgarity of Trump and JD Vance and the far-right agenda they would champion.”
He concluded: “It will take Arizona Republicans, independents and Democrats standing together against a far-right agenda. Let us put country over party by voting to stop Trump and protect our democracy.”
Harris Calls Out Trump For Iowa’s Abortion Ban
“What this means is that 1 in 3 women of reproductive age in America lives in a state with a Trump abortion ban,” the vice president said in a video posted to all of her social media channels.
She urged viewers to vote, promising that if she becomes president, she “will sign into law the protections for reproductive freedom.”
Harris shared the video as a part of her presidential campaign’s “Fight for Reproductive Freedom” week of action that kicked off on Monday. The Harris campaign will host dozens of events in battleground states focused on reproductive rights, according to a press release. Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff is scheduled to host one of the events in New Hampshire on Wednesday.
Over 20 states have enacted abortion bans since the Supreme Court repealed federal abortion protections in 2022.
