The countdown is on for Vice President Kamala Harris to choose a running mate, while former President Donald Trump’s pick, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), continues campaigning despite a slew of controversies making headlines.

Harris must announce her running mate by Aug. 7. Several contenders have made media appearances on Harris’ behalf in the last week, slamming Trump and Vance as “weird.”

On Monday, Harris backed a proposal from President Joe Biden for Supreme Court reform, saying the court is experiencing “a clear crisis of confidence” thanks to a number of recent ethical scandals.

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign continues to fight off criticism of Vance after he doubled down on a resurfaced old argument that “childless cat ladies” have no stake in America.

‘White Dudes for Harris’ To Hold Video Call Monday Night

The newly organized pro-Harris campaign “White Dudes for Harris" said it will hold a mass video call Monday night featuring a number of high-profile Harris supporters.

The list of guests includes some of Harris' potential running mates, including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, according to an online post by the event's campaign.

Actors Mark Hamill, Mark Ruffalo and singer Josh Groban are also reportedly scheduled to speak.

The event starts at 8 p.m. ET and can be viewed here.

The viewing event boasted more than 75,000 online registrations as of Monday morning.

Trump To Join Tele-Rally For Senate Candidate Kari Lake

Trump is joining Arizona Senate hopeful Kari Lake for a tele-rally on Monday night ahead her state’s Republican primaries, her campaign announced on social media.

Lake is hoping to beat out Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb in her state’s primary on Tuesday. Her efforts come as she continues to contest the results of her failed 2022 gubernatorial bid.

Lake is leading Lamb 49% to 38%, according to the results of a Noble Predictive Insights poll released Monday.

Both candidates are Trump supporters, though Lake was the one to receive his endorsement.

Here's Who's On The Task Force Investigating The Assassination Attempt On Trump

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) revealed the names of the representatives joining the bipartisan House task force dedicated to investigating the assassination attempt on Trump.

The task force will feature the seven following Republicans: Reps. Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania, Mark Green of Tennessee, David Joyce of Ohio, Laurel Lee of Florida, Mike Waltz of Florida, Clay Higgins of Louisiana and Pat Fallon of Texas. Kelly, who is responsible for introducing the task force resolution, will serve as its chairman.

There will also be six Democrats on the task force, including Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado, the Democratic ranking member. Reps. Lou Correa of California, Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania, Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, Glenn Ivey of Maryland and Jared Moskowitz of Florida will also join the task force.

“We have the utmost confidence in this bipartisan group of steady, highly qualified and capable Members of Congress to move quickly to find the facts, ensure accountability and help make certain such failures never happen again,” Johnson and Jeffries said in a joint statement.

Republican Arizona Mayor Endorses Harris, Calls Trump ‘Serious Threat To Our Nation’

Republican Mayor John Giles of Mesa, Arizona, endorsed Harris for president in an op-ed Monday that called for voters to “put country over party” while warning against another Trump presidency.

“Arizona leaders like McCain and Sen. Mark Kelly have embodied the commitment to country over party. And it’s that same high caliber of character and leadership I see in Vice President Harris,” wrote Giles, who has served as mayor of Mesa since 2014.

In outlining his support, Giles credited the Biden-Harris administration with improving public infrastructure and transit systems, and adding thousands of new jobs within the state’s semiconductor industry through federal funding.

“Under Trump, American cities didn’t get the support they deserved. Infrastructure week was made into a joke,” he said, while also noting Trump's successful efforts to squash a bipartisan border proposal in the Senate earlier this year.

He said Harris will restore and protect the rights of women and fight against gun violence. Trump “would roll back our rights and freedoms,” he said.

“Trump poses a serious threat to our nation. We can’t have a felon representing us on the national stage, let alone one who would threaten to abandon NATO and ruin our standing abroad,” he went on. “We can choose a future for our children and grandchildren based on decency, respect and morality — or succumb to the crudeness and vulgarity of Trump and JD Vance and the far-right agenda they would champion.”

He concluded: “It will take Arizona Republicans, independents and Democrats standing together against a far-right agenda. Let us put country over party by voting to stop Trump and protect our democracy.”

Vance Says We Should Pray And Have Sympathy For People Without Children

Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, on Sunday said people who don’t have children can fully participate in American life, softening his earlier statements that the childless have a lesser stake in the country’s future.

Fox News host Trey Gowdy practically begged Vance to apologize for his 2021 remarks about the Democratic Party being run by “childless cat ladies” who supposedly have no “direct stake” in the country because they don’t have kids.

Harris Calls Out Trump For Iowa’s Abortion Ban

Harris called out Trump for enabling a six-week abortion ban that went into effect in Iowa on Monday morning.

“What this means is that 1 in 3 women of reproductive age in America lives in a state with a Trump abortion ban,” the vice president said in a video posted to all of her social media channels.

She urged viewers to vote, promising that if she becomes president, she “will sign into law the protections for reproductive freedom.”

Harris shared the video as a part of her presidential campaign’s “Fight for Reproductive Freedom” week of action that kicked off on Monday. The Harris campaign will host dozens of events in battleground states focused on reproductive rights, according to a press release. Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff is scheduled to host one of the events in New Hampshire on Wednesday.

Over 20 states have enacted abortion bans since the Supreme Court repealed federal abortion protections in 2022.
