Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg ― of truth-telling on Fox News fame ― is helping Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz prepare for his upcoming vice presidential debate against GOP counterpart JD Vance, The Washington Post reported Thursday.
Buttigieg has been drafted to play Vance ― of false migrants-eating-pets claims and “childless cat ladies” notoriety ― in mock debate sessions ahead of the CBS News-hosted event on Oct. 1, said the Post, citing multiple sources.
The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, former Democratic presidential candidate and current Biden White House cabinet member is involved “in his personal capacity,” per the newspaper.

Minnesota Gov. Walz and Buttigieg (as Walz) have “not yet held a full 90-minute mock debate, although they are expected to do closer” to the actual event, the Post added.
Buttigieg in 2020 portrayed then-Vice President Mike Pence in mock sessions with then-Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
It’s not clear exactly how Buttigieg will prepare Walz for the debate, like if he’ll go as far as former Hillary Clinton aide Philippe Reines who smothered himself in bronzer to portray GOP nominee Donald Trump in practice sessions with Harris.
