LOADINGERROR LOADING

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) this week proposed a new way to honor Donald Trump: a $250 bill with the president’s image on it.

Trump’s MAGA base predictably hyped the idea.

But critics from both sides of the aisle suggested Republicans should be focused on more important issues and mocked Wilson for “bootlicking.”

“I’m grateful to announce that I am drafting legislation to direct the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Donald J. Trump,” Wilson, who infamously shouted “You lie!” at then-President Barack Obama in 2009, wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“Bidenflation has destroyed the economy, forcing American families to carry more cash. Most valuable bill for the most valuable President!” he added.

“It’s a cult,” the Republican Voters Against Trump group wrote online.

Others agreed:

Did you fill out the 5 things you did last week? If this is on your agenda, it would seem you are expendable.

You're an embarrassment.

— Art Candee ???????? (@ArtCandee) February 26, 2025

What the actual fuck is wrong with you. Bootlicking is a very ugly shade.

— Colt Sebastian Taylor (@ColtSTaylor) February 26, 2025

How does this fix any of America's problems? Now get to work on actual important stuff Joe!

— THE PARZIVAL (@The1Parzival) February 26, 2025

How will this help your constituents?

— Dr. Z Banks (@MizBanks) February 26, 2025

It's a cult

$250 bill featuring Trump is impractical for several reasons:
A) Only about 5% of Americans even carry $100 bills.
B) The economy is moving toward cashless transactions.
C) The opposition would be overwhelming.
D) No living person has ever been featured on U.S. currency, making…

My expert opinion says, this is pretty fuckin' stupid.

— RickGamesNow on YouTube (@rickgamesnow) February 26, 2025

How about we bring down inflation and make our current currency valuable again...

— Texas-1776 (@SCKnipp) February 26, 2025

No! Only dead Presidents go on money. We need him alive.

— John Wright (@Cathcapal) February 26, 2025

Trumpflation?

— Charlie Tian, GuruFocus CEO (@GurufocusC) February 26, 2025

Do you all do ANYTHING for the people??? Anything at all??

— Sharon is here ???????? (@Sharon67645247) February 26, 2025

Give me a break. Everybody in @RepJoeWilson district needs to primary him at the next election campaign for suggesting more government waste on something that adds no value to everyday citizens AT ALL.

— catlett (@catlett) February 26, 2025

Starting to think this is a parody account. You think we carry $250 around? You are out of touch Joe.

— OG Fella ???????????????????????? (@Garrett_Fella) February 25, 2025

This is so cringe

Really? I voted for Trump, but isn’t there more pressing issues at hand?

Congressman, you might not be very familiar with Chinese culture. In China, "250" isn't considered a lucky number. Proposing a $250 bill might not exactly win the president's favor!
