It’s been a week since Amazon’s October Prime Day sales event but the discounts are still abound —and in some cases, the discounts are better elsewhere. Take Google’s Pixel Buds A-Series wireless headphones, the company’s answer to Apple’s AirPods, which have just been reduced to $69 — 30% off their typical price at Amazon. At Target, however, you can get an extra 10% off for being a Target Circle member (it’s free to join the club) for a total 40% off at just $60! Just check the green box to “clip” the virtual coupon and the extra savings will appear at checkout! The earbuds also qualify for free shipping or you can checkout with local pick-up at your closest Target store. (Your neighborhood deal hunters obviously must note that the Target Circle deal is the better of the two. Grab it while you can!)
This is a big deal for Android users looking for budget equivalents to AirPods. The Pixel Buds A-Series headphones offer up to 24 hours of battery life with their charging case, excellent sound quality, a secure fit thanks to their winged-tip design and crispy clear audio for phone and video calls. And while they don’t feature active noise-canceling, reviewers say they’re definitely still worth checking out. “These are the best everyday wireless earbuds I’ve ever used,” says one fan. “I love these things as an everyday carry. they look great, sound great and work great.”
The Google Pixel Buds A-Series is the brand’s budget version of the Pixel Buds Pro, minus a few premium tech features. These simple earbuds offer up to 24 hours of battery life with their charging case, with 5 hours of playtime with music or audio and 2.5 hours of talk time on a single charge. They’re compatible with Google Assistant, which lets you use voice commands to play music, read texts, check the weather and more, plus they seamlessly connect to Android and Google Pixel phones via Bluetooth, though, yes, they can connect with iOS devices, too. They’re water-resistant for standing up against sweat-induced workouts, and while they lack active noise-cancelation, they still feature Adaptive Sound, which auto-adjusts the volume as you move between quiet and noisy environments, so you don’t have to.
According to many user reviews, these excel with their fit and in-ear design. They come in three ear tip sizes for a custom fit and feature what the brand calls a stabilizer arc, which keeps the wireless earbuds in place and flush with the ears to seal in sound gently. “They’re so comfortable you can forget they’re even in there,” says a reviewer named BTC.

“The Pixel Buds are unquestionably the best set of ear-anything I’ve ever owned. Combined with my Pixel 6 XL, the buds are picked up instantaneously upon being removed from the case. The battery life is excellent and the case holds several additional charges. Thus far I’ve never run out of a charge. Not even sure I’ve gone below 75%, honestly. The best part about these, which can’t be said for many other buds, is that you don’t have to pair them to use them. You can use one of them and then switch over to the other if you want to maximize battery life (or simply don’t want to or can’t use both at the same time). This feature is often reserved for buds that are much more expensive than these. My final comment - and perhaps the most important - is the fit. Absolutely perfect. I have avoided buds over the years at all costs because I can just never get them to sit right in my ear. They fall out, they hurt, whatever. I do a lot of work around the house and get sweaty (I live in Florida, tough not to be sweaty...) and have had buds just drop out of my ear because of that. Never has that happened yet with these buds. They’re so comfortable you can forget they’re even in there. Do yourself a favor and pick these up. Top notch all around.” — BTC
“Venturing into the realm of the Google Pixel Buds, I embarked on a journey of exploration that spanned across platforms, including iPhone and Windows computer usage. This review aims to offer a comprehensive perspective on the capabilities of these wireless earbuds, in comparison to other popular options. To be honest I tried them out because they were on supersale during Prime Day. So why not! The Pixel Buds shine brightly in several aspects. Their design, minimalistic and comfortable, ensures a snug fit suitable for both workouts and daily activities. The sound quality, characterized by crisp audio and punchy bass, impressed me across a variety of musical genres. Google’s adaptive sound feature, dynamically adjusting volume based on surroundings, further enhanced the listening experience. As an iPhone user I love Airpods but they are pretty pricey. Speaking of alternatives, let’s talk about the AirPods. The Pixel Buds stack up well in terms of sound quality and the real-time translation feature, giving them a distinct edge. I have found the battery to be pretty good and have not had to recharge nearly as often as my Airpod Pros. Considering the AirPods, while they integrate seamlessly with Apple devices, the Pixel Buds’ compatibility with different platforms is a plus. Additionally, the Pixel Buds’ noise canceling and translation capabilities broaden their appeal beyond audio quality alone.” — Heather A. Turner (This review has been edited for length. “I love these earbuds. I LOVE THEM. I’ve always been an over the ear earbuds wearer. I hate inner ear earbuds. They’ve never been comfortable for me, and my ears have always hurt after wearing them. I’ve tried different sizes to make sure the fit was good, but it just never felt right in the past. I received my first pair of earbuds for free from Google with the purchase of one of their phones a year ago. I was super skeptical, but hey. It was free. When I tried them on, I was so surprised. They were comfortable, and they actually stayed in my ears. They didn’t fall out. The grip was strong, but it didn’t feel like I was wearing anything at all. After I tried wearing them on a few walks with my dogs to make sure they didn’t hurt my ears from prolonged use, I was super happy with the results. No discomfort. No pain. Heck yeah! These were my new favorite earbuds. Six months later, I left my earbuds out on the coffee table while I was doing some cleaning. When I came back in, I discovered one of my dogs had gotten them and chewed them to pieces. So here I am. I immediately came to Amazon and bought a new pair on the spot, because I need these in my life. I got my new pair, and they’re still as comfortable as ever. 5/5, don’t leave them near your dogs.” — Fiddleleaf
“im honestly really impressed with these things. ive bought a lot of wireless ear buds over the years and have really failed to find a pair that 1. stay in my ears and 2. sound great relative to the price. even airpods and airpod pros were a disappointment to me when i used apple. these are the best everyday wireless earbuds ive ever used. the biggest pro is the fin that helps keep them in your ears. i dont why, but so many audio companies just stopped designing fins into their earbuds and its nice to see that google actually cares if these things stay in your ears or not. the fin design is great and functional and they dont move at all in my ears for long periods. i also havent had any connection issues with these over the past few weeks. they never take long to pair, randomly disconnect and reconnect, or randomly pair while their in the case. these just work like they should and its nice to experience. they also sound great for what you pay for them. im not an audiophile but the sound on these have really impressed me. I have a pair of sony wf-1000xm4s that i use at work and those sound truly incredible with the anc on and while these dont have anc i would say they do sound impressive when turned up louder and the eq is perfect for the music i listen to. the case is also great and i love the shape. and the battery is great also. ive only had to change them once since i got them a few weeks ago. i love these things as an everyday carry. they look great, sound great, and work great. if you use android you should really look into these.” — jp
“I have purchased many earbuds over the years from very expensive to very cheap and epithet they fall out of my ears or they hurt to wear over extended wear. Then I found these and have been a huge fan ever sense. They are very comfortable and the little wing keeps them snug in my ear - they have never fallen out. I can run, workout or even lie in bed with these snugly fitted. no there is no noise cancellations or the other bells and whistles some more expensive brands have but for an everyday comfortable way to listed to music without falling out these check every box.” — Amazon Customer
“For the price, I love these earbuds. They might not fill out a spec sheet as completely as some competing buds, but they are wonderful to actually use. The touch controls are responsive and easy to use. They provide a large target area so you won’t worry about incorrect inputs. The other really important thing for me - the controls are just as easy to use in single-ear mode as they are with both ears. Most other earbuds I’ve used require you to use a specific side for pause or skip, so if you normally use one ear at a time (as I do), you are cut off from half the controls. With the Pixel Buds, it’s a single tap for pause, double tap to skip forward, triple tap to skip back, and hold for assistant. Both ears exactly the same. While this does mean that you don’t have volume controls on the earbuds themselves, the adaptive sound reduces that need, and I’d gladly give up volume controls to have ambidextrous controls. Opinions will vary on comfort since everyone has different ears, but I find them very comfortable and the wingtips hold them in place well.” — LucaR
