Gayle King’s journey to space was truly out of this world — and so was her relatable reaction to it, which instantly went viral.

On Monday, the “CBS Mornings” host joined Blue Origin’s all-female suborbital voyage — which also included singer Katy Perry and Lauren Sanchez, the fiancee of Amazon and Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos.

Before catapulting into the great beyond, each crew member rang the ceremonial bell, beaming with excitement. King, however, wore her nerves on her sleeve. Her apprehensive look stood in vast contrast to her crewmates’ giddy enthusiasm.

“I didn’t realize that I was being photographed at that moment, nor did I realize that my expression looked so terrified,” King later confessed in an interview shared by the Instagram account Oprah Daily.

Still, the host said she never considered aborting the mission, even though all participants were given the option to back out before the launch window closed.

“We were told that if you’re going to back out, you have to do so before two minutes and thirty seconds,” King explained after saying that she “wasn’t going to be that guy.”

“The process of walking up there was a little daunting for me,” she added, acknowledging that getting on the ship was “a little scary” and that the memes circulating show she was “apprehensive.”

But King said the photo of her getting off the capsule — looking overjoyed to be back on Earth — is “the one that matters,” calling it her “victory speech.”

After landing safely, King admitted that she “just wanted to get inside the capsule and sit down.”

“Welcome home has a new meaning,” she joked.
