“Floribama Shore” star Kirk Medas has died after being hospitalized in an intensive care unit with a severe illness, multiple outlets reported. He was 33.
The reality star’s father told TMZ that Medas died from liver failure. His family previously announced to the outlet that Medas was fighting necrotizing pancreatitis and was in a coma.
Medas appeared on “Floribama Shore” from 2017 until 2020.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of the Floribama Shore family. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time,” an MTV spokesperson told People on Friday.
HuffPost has reached out to MTV for comment.
One of Medas’ former co-stars, Aimee Elizabeth Hall, posted an update about his health last week.
“Our friend Kirk has been in the ICU for over two weeks now,” she wrote Thursday on Instagram alongside a photo of Medas lying in a hospital bed as well as snapshots of him spending time with the MTV show’s cast.
Hall noted at the time that Medas was “on a ventilator” and called his condition “incredibly serious.”
“Please pray for Kirk. Pray for his mother. Pray for his friends,” she continued. “And pray for his castmates—we’re all hurting watching our brother fight this battle. Thank you for your love and support.”
