Seven months after getting engaged, Joel Kim Booster is very much in a romantic mood ― but, as seen in a new interview, he hasn’t lost his irreverent sense of humor since finding love.
HuffPost caught a sneak peek at Booster’s appearance on Thursday’s episode of Grindr’s “Who’s the A**hole? with Katya” podcast. In it, the “Fire Island” actor and comedian says he knew that he and fiancé John-Michael Sudsina would eventually marry just two days after they met.
“You know when you know. It is not something that will grow,” he explained. “It is not something that you can force to happen. No matter how much you like the person, if you don’t have that feeling immediately, it’s not going to come by date three. That is my belief.”
He went on to note: “I had never felt that way about anybody else in my entire life. At least for me, I was not someone who was going to wait around and waste time trying to fall in love with someone.”

Booster and Sudsina, a video game producer, got engaged in August of last year while on vacation in Jeju Island, South Korea. “No matter where I am, he’s my home,” Booster wrote on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos which included a snapshot of him on one knee before a jubilant-looking Sudsina.
In his chat with Katya, a “RuPaul’s Drag Race” veteran, Booster confirmed Sudsina met his dating “criteria” early on.
“I needed him to be curious, like somebody who would continue to want to experience things and grow with me,” he said.
Those familiar with Booster’s cheeky brand of comedy won’t be disappointed by his “Who’s the A**hole?” interview. Elsewhere in the chat, he and Katya dish on the unexpected downfalls of sex in the shower.
“One of the greatest lies ― water’s not lube,” he quipped. “In fact, it does not help you in there ... I also don’t enjoy it in a hot tub or a pool.”

Now in its third season, “Who’s the A**hole? with Katya” offers listeners an “unfiltered and judgment-free space to explore the messy gray areas of hook-ups, relationships, and everything in between ... the cheeks,” according to Grindr’s Director of Consumer Content, Benjamin Cooper.
The podcast’s recent guests include “Hacks” actor and comedian Meg Stalter, Olympian Gus Kenworthy and sex and relationship guru Zachary Zane.

Katya, who has cited the late Dr. Ruth Westheimer as one of the inspirations for the podcast, said the focus is on having “open conversations with about the realities of queer dating and relationships.”
“Everyone can be an asshole when it comes to dating, but nobody wants to admit it. That’s where I come in — to get the dirt on everyone!” the performer told HuffPost. “My job is to make sure everyone feels comfortable enough to have these conversations and make these topics less taboo ― I mean, everyone fucks and everyone can be an asshole. Just look at me.”
