Elon Musk’s estranged daughter, Vivian Wilson, told Teen Vogue in an interview published Thursday that her father’s “Nazi salute” at President Donald Trump’s inauguration rally “was insane.”

“The Nazi salute shit was insane,” Wilson, 20, said. “Honey, we’re going to call a fig a fig, and we’re going to call a Nazi salute what it was. That shit was definitely a Nazi salute. The crowd is equally to blame, and I feel like people are not talking about that. That crowd should be denounced.”

Wilson, who came out as trans when she was still a teenager, has spoken before about her estranged relationship with Musk and said he would berate her as a child for being queer.

She told Teen Vogue that she hasn’t spoken to him since 2020. “Thank God,” she said.

Wilson also said she doesn’t know how many siblings — or rather, half-siblings — she has. Musk reportedly has 14 children with four different women, and Wilson said she found out about Musk’s child with influencer Ashley St. Clair and his second child with the singer Grimes on Reddit.

“If I had a nickel for every time I found out I had half-siblings through Reddit, I’d have two nickels,” Wilson told Teen Vogue.

She said she’s not in communication with Grimes or anyone on that side of the family and has only met X, one of Grimes’ children with Musk whom he often takes to White House photo-ops, once.

On social media, Wilson has been outspoken about her political beliefs. She told Teen Vogue that she thinks the U.S. is moving in a “terrifying” direction.

“Every time I open my phone to read the news, I kind of just stare at the wall for 10 minutes,” she said. “It’s horrifying what they’re doing, not only to the trans community, but also to migrants, to communities of color, to so many marginalized communities that are being systematically targeted by the new administration and having protections revoked. It’s cartoonishly evil.”

Musk, who heads the non-Cabinet-level Department of Government Efficiency, has slashed government jobs and become a trusted adviser to Trump. In recent years, he has leaned even farther right in his politics, and Wilson forcefully pushed back on the notion that it was due to her coming out.

“It’s such a convenient narrative, that the reason he turned right is because I’m a fucking tranny, and that’s just not the case,” Wilson said. “That’s not what that does to people. Him going further on the right, and I’m going to use the word ‘further’ — make sure you put ‘further’ in there — is not because of me. That’s insane.”
