NextImg:Elon Musk Tries To Spin Wisconsin Defeat Into A Win, And It’s Hilariously Pathetic
LOADINGERROR LOADING

Elon Musk attempted to downplay the results of Tuesday’s Wisconsin state Supreme Court race by claiming he got what he really wanted all along, despite his preferred candidate losing.

Musk wanted Brad Schimel, a Waukesha County circuit judge and a former Republican attorney general, to win really, really badly. So much so that he and his cronies poured a record $21 million into the race. Musk himself even gave a handful of Wisconsin voters $1 million checks in order to goose the results.

“A seemingly small election could determine the fate of Western civilization,” Musk said Tuesday in a last-ditch effort to sway the results on X, per The Associated Press. “I think it matters for the future of the world.”

Yet, despite Musk’s involvement, Schimel lost to Susan Crawford, who was favored by Democrats.

On Wednesday, Musk attempted to spin the narrative by claiming his obvious defeat was actually a major win.

“This was the most important thing,” Musk wrote, while retweeting a post that announced that a ballot measure involving voter IDs was approved by Wisconsin voters.

“BREAKING: Wisconsin Question 1, which adds a Voter ID requirement to the state’s Constitution has passed,” the tweet reads.

This was the most important thing https://t.co/x99NunhUkA

Although the retweeted post makes it appear like Wisconsin residents were able to vote without photo identification until Wednesday, that isn’t the case.

The New York Times reported that Wisconsin law already requires voters to show photo identification. This amendment just makes it harder for courts or the state legislature to remove the ID requirement in the future.

Several X users immediately smelled Musk’s BS and called him out.

It was already the law you stupid bitch ???????????? you lost big time tonight. Burn that money, fucking loser

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha. You said the fate of western civilization depended on the Supreme Court race and now you are coping hard. This has been the law in Wisconsin since 2016!!!

— Brett Meiselas ???????????? (@BMeiselas) April 2, 2025

So the thing you said Western Civilization hinged on actually wasn't that important ????

— Michael Tracey (@mtracey) April 2, 2025

Elon calling this “the most important thing” is wild. Man’s been L-ing so hard lately he’s counting voter ID laws as wins just to feel something. ????

You failed, you couldn't buy the vote. That was the most important thing.

Despite Musk’s attempt to gaslight everyone into thinking the Wisconsin Supreme Court election was no big deal, Crawford was well aware of the larger context behind her win.

“I’ve got to tell you, as a little girl growing up in Chippewa Falls, I never could have imagined that I’d be taking on the richest man in the world,” she told a cheering crowd during her victory speech Tuesday. “For justice in Wisconsin.”

“And we won!” she added, causing the crowd to cheer even more.
