Ellen Pompeo has filmed a number of sex scenes in her time on television, but there’s one specific scene from “Grey’s Anatomy” that left her feeling deeply uncomfortable.
Pompeo spoke about the scene ― which followed a storyline involving fellow “Grey’s” regular T.R. Knight ― during a candid interview on “Call Her Daddy.”
“Can I tell you an inside story about that?” Pompeo said during her podcast appearance Wednesday.
“T.R. and I are such good friends and we had to do a love scene and we were both crying,” she explained, adding that the two cried and cried.
“And the scene was so uncomfortable and awkward. He didn’t want to do that; I didn’t want to do it,” Pompeo said.

The two ended up filming it, and it “was so bad,” the actor said.
The network apparently felt the same way and gave feedback that “there was ‘too much thrusting.’”
“In your worst nightmare to have to do it one time, we had to reshoot that shit,” she said.
Pompeo disliked the scene so much, she said, she’s “never watched that scene.”
“I don’t know how it was shot or covered or how it was edited but I’m full-on in tears the whole entire scene ― and those are real tears,” she said.

Pompeo said that “there was a lot of stuff that I didn’t want to do at the time,” but she continued filming for basically one reason: money.
“The best thing is the financial security, if I’m being very honest,” Pompeo told People magazine of the show, which she starred in from 2005 to 2023.
“It’s been really lucrative, and I think financial security is not something that every actress is afforded,” she added. “So I’m very grateful for that.”
