“The Daily Show” host Michael Kosta mocked Donald Trump’s talk of superstitions during his address to a joint session of Congress.

The president announced that reciprocal tariffs would take effect on April 2, explaining his reasoning behind the date.

“I wanted to make it April 1, but I didn’t want to be accused of April Fools’ Day,” he said. “I’m a very superstitious person.”

Kosta couldn’t resist a jab.

“Yeah, that makes sense,” he quipped. “Trump can’t make announcements on April Fools’ Day—otherwise, we’d all be like, ‘Wait, is this a joke?’”

He added, “As opposed to every other day when that isn’t our reaction to the stuff he does.”
