NextImg:Critics Sack Trump Campaign Over Spectacular ‘Freudian Slip’ In Football Post
LOADINGERROR LOADING

Donald Trump’s campaign drew mockery for a typo that critics suggested was a Freudian slip about the former president and current Republican nominee.

In an email to supporters, Trump’s team misspelled the Steelers part of the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers name as “Stealers.”

“Working at McDonalds, a town hall, a Stealers game — no one is working harder than President Trump to Make America Great Again!” it wrote.

The mistake also appeared on Trump’s website.

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) called it an “Authoritarian slip” in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Conservative attorney George Conway labeled it “projection.”

Trump attended the Steelers-New York Jets clash at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, where some fans gave him a less-than-friendly welcome.

The Trump campaign misspelled the Pittsburgh Steelers as “Stealers” in their campaign newsletter.

Silly, that’s not a misspelling; it’s projection! https://t.co/Hfe6cktHIs

Authoritarian slip. https://t.co/ZY3UjG1jWw

Can't spell, won't spell!

— Billie Nelson (@Mamabenergy2) October 22, 2024

Well, they’re used to that spelling of it for a reason

— KARMA-LA for the Win (@LadyJDance) October 22, 2024

I think they meant Trump campaign is a stealers game and not a campaign.

— 1stBitcoin (@1stUnity) October 22, 2024

Steal is Trump's favorite word, after all

If you're trying to win PA (MUST win PA), it's a serious un-forced error to MIS-SPELL THE NAME OF ONE OF THE STATE'S TWO NFL TEAMS. You can't get more incompetent than this - and they're just campaigning! Can you imagine the incompetence of an actual @DonaldTrump administration?… https://t.co/w27OAE11ee

— Steve Hullfish, ACE (@SteveHullfish) October 22, 2024

I don’t think they misspelled anything.

— Mauricio Korbman (@MauricioKorbman) October 22, 2024

How is faking a fast food job for an hour, wiggling around on stage at a “town hall” and going to a football game making us great again?
