It seems like it might just be “God’s Plan” for Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef to remain at the center of our TV screens.
At the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday, host Conan O’Brien reignited the longstanding feud between the two musical artists.
“Well, we’re halfway through the show, which means it’s time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a pedophile,” O’Brien joked. “Don’t worry, I’m lawyered up,” he added.
The joke alluded to Drake’s defamation lawsuit against his music label, Universal Music Group, which he claims prioritized profits over his safety by releasing Lamar’s “false and malicious” diss track, “Not Like Us.”

During Lamar’s February Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, fans were waiting with bated breath to see if the artist would perform the notorious track.
“I want to perform their favorite song, but you know they love to sue,” Lamar teased before launching into the performance. After his statement, the rapper flashed a diabolical smile into the camera.

At the 2025 Grammys, Lamar took home five awards for the diss track. During the ceremony, the rapper donned a denim-dominated ensemble that included a jacket and light-blue jeans. The “Canadian tuxedo” caught the attention of sharp-eyed social media users, who saw it as a quiet dig at Drake, who is from Canada.
