CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten on Wednesday pointed to data dismissing claims that Donald Trump voters now “regret” backing the president last year.

“The bottom line is this, if there’s some idea out there that Trump voters are going around, ‘Man, I wish I had voted for Kamala Harris instead of Donald Trump,’ the numbers say that is a fanciful universe,” Enten told CNN’s John Berman.

“It really, for the most part, does not exist.”

In recent weeks, Trump has seen his approval rating tank among independent voters just as a majority of Americans have soured over his handling of the economy.

Enten was asked whether Trump supporters now have buyers’ remorse, a topic that surfaced in both the president’s first and second term.

While it’s a “big question” if Trump voters have buyers’ remorse, he noted that “very few” actually do, pointing to a recent University of Massachusetts Amherst/YouGov poll that found just 2% of his 2024 supporters would change their vote and 1% noting they’d rather not vote.

These numbers, Enten added, are “rather similar” to those of Harris voters when they were also asked if they’d vote differently in the election.

“So, if there was a repeat, if folks got to be able to redo their vote that they had back in 2024, would the result be any different? I doubt it would be. I doubt it would be or it would still be extremely close,” Enten said.

Berman then asked Enten about Trump voters’ “stickiness” with the president and how that figure compares to his first term.

Just 3% of those who voted for Trump’s 2024 campaign answered that they’d now change their vote or not vote at all, Enten noted, compared to 4% of voters who supported his 2016 bid when asked the same question in February 2017.
