Scott Jennings, CNN’s resident conservative commentator on its “NewsNight” show, made a fleeting appearance onstage with President Donald Trump during a rally in Warren, Michigan, on Tuesday.
Trump introduced Jennings with a mock warning, telling the crowd: “I’ve watched him for years, I don’t know him, but he likes Trump. CNN, this is the end of Scott. Oh, who cares? Don’t worry, we’ll take care of you, Scott. Scott Jennings, really great.”
Jennings took the stage, thanked the president and offered a line that quickly drew mockery and criticism online.
“Michigan, we were flying in here today and I said, ‘Look at these farms. I gotta get a farm in Michigan,’” Jennings said. “Because when you own as many libs as I do, you got to put a place to put them all. Thank you all very much.”
Trump, who was celebrating his first 100 days back in the White House, smiled as Jennings exited the stage.
After the rally, Jennings posted a video of the moment on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “I got caught up in the moment.”
