Michelle Obama has proven that she understands the importance of a running gag.

The former first lady was a guest on Amy Poehler’s podcast “Good Hang” Tuesday, and seemed to have a lot of fun teasing the “Saturday Night Live” alum after Poehler made a pretty embarrassing confession to her.

A little over 14 minutes into the episode, Poehler said that she first met Obama in 2014 on the set of her hit sitcom “Parks and Recreation” while filming a two-part episode in which the “Becoming” author had a cameo.

“Do you have a memory of that day?” Poehler asked Obama. “I have a very strong memory about something.”

Obama admitted that the whole day was a “blur” for her because she was so nervous, but was intrigued by Poehler’s memory.

“I do remember, the very first take … you were perfect … you hit your mark, you said your line — and my character Leslie Knope is supposed to be overwhelmed by seeing you. And, I, Amy Poehler was also very jazzed. And I went to say my line, and I drooled!”

In response, Obama — and much of Poehler’s crew — burst out laughing.

“Do you not remember? I’m so glad you don’t remember,” Poehler admitted. “I full-on drooled.”

“Did I notice the drool?” Obama asked.

“Total pro,” Poelher said.

“I don’t know if I saw it,” Obama said. “But … why the drool?”

“I have very active salivary glands,” Poehler said. “Not to brag, Michelle … but when I go to the dentist, they’re always like—”

“Whoa, easy!” Obama interjected. “They have the extra-large suction tube for you. They’ve got an Amy tube.”

“You’re joking, but they do. They have to put in two tubes,” Poehler said, mock bragging.

Although Obama didn’t remember Poehler drooling in 2014, she couldn’t forget about it during the rest of her interview with Poehler, and brought it back up as a joke a few times, admitting 29 minutes into the episode that for her and her family, “teasing is our love language.”

Later on in the episode, when Poehler said she needed a lip balm break, Obama decided to bring up drool for a second time.

“Do you need something for the saliva?” Obama asked, causing Poehler to crack up.

“I’m just going to spit into a cup,” Poehler said.

“It’s a spittoon!” Obama joked. “I haven’t seen one of those for a while.”

The third time drool was mentioned was at the tail end of the interview, with Poehler bringing it up this time.

The “Inside Out” star asked Obama what makes her laugh, and Obama initially had a pretty sweet answer.

“I’m not fangirling, but rewatching a lot of ‘Parks and Rec,’” that’s the kind of humor I like,” the former first lady said, while also naming “Community,” “Modern Family” and “Seinfeld” as her other faves.

“And you probably watch me and you’re like, ‘Good job keeping that drool inside your mouth,’” Poehler quipped.

“Well now that I know that it’s an issue, I’ll watch you a little differently,” Obama said. “I’ll be like, ’Whoa, look at her keeping her saliva inside. Way to go! That’s my girl!’”
