Faversham residents have spoken of their fear in the area, after a woman claimed that a group of machete-armed men tore down an England flag at a local funfair.

The young woman told GB News that she witnessed the men removing the flag while families and children were nearby.

“There was a group of four males carrying a big machete, taking the flag down,” she said.

“I went over and said, can I have the flag, it’s our country’s flag, and he was stood there with a big machete in his hand.”

She also claimed the group appeared to be targeting St George’s flags that had been displayed in the area.

The woman said she was left shaken by the incident, describing how “underage girls” at the funfair had also been approached and made to feel uncomfortable.

“Some girls, they was having their photographs taken by these non-English speaking men, touching them, asking them to go and do sexual activities there,” she said.

“That’s a place where kids go to have fun. I don’t want to go out in the dark anymore. I don’t feel safe.”

She added: “We’re called the aggressive ones, the people who wear the flags, put our flags up. We’re called the aggressive ones.”

Another person told Patrick: "We've got to get Great Britain back to being Great Britain again. I mean, our grandparents, most of us here would have probably fought in the war for this country.

"We should be allowed to be proud of where we come from.

"And also, you know, flying all the flags like we have been. It's bringing communities together. It's bringing people together."

A third person said: “The thing I like about the flags is that we’re trying to remind everyone this country has a great history and a great culture and it shouldn’t be erased.

“We should be learning this at school from a young age, because there are a lot of countries that would love to have the history and culture we have here.

“I’ve got a flag flying from my house, and they had the audacity to stick a sticker on my back fence that basically says, ‘we all bleed the same’.”

The comments come as local councils have been removing St George's and Union flags from lampposts.

This has sparked a series of protests and a counter-campaign, called Operation Raise the Colours, all around the UK.
