A large crowd in St Petersburg has been filmed singing a banned song calling for Vladimir Putin to resign.

Hundreds of young Russians joined street musicians in one of the city’s squares to belt out anti-war lyrics that are now branded “extremist” under the Kremlin’s censorship laws.

The group performed a rap by Noize MC, a pro-Ukrainian artist known for his outspoken criticism of Putin’s regime.

The song includes the lines: “Where have you been for eight years, you f****** monsters? I want to watch ballet, let the swans dance,” before adding: “Let your grandpa tremble with excitement for Swan Lake.”
