Lawrence Taylor, head of UK counter-terrorism policing, has confirmed a terrorist attack at a Manchester synagogue during Yom Kippur.

Two people have died, three are in serious condition, and the attacker was shot dead by police. Two further arrests have also been made.

Specialist teams are leading the investigation alongside Greater Manchester Police, working with the security services to follow every line of intelligence.

Police nationwide are stepping up patrols at synagogues and Jewish sites, while the public is urged to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious.
