Beijing hosted China's first humanoid robot football league on Saturday, where AI-powered robots competed autonomously in 3-on-3 matches without human intervention.
Four university teams participated in the tournament, with robots operating entirely through artificial intelligence and advanced visual sensors that enabled them to identify the ball and navigate the pitch.
The robots demonstrated abilities including kicking, dribbling, decision-making and multi-robot collaboration, though their movements appeared slow and unsteady to observers.
The matches, played in two 10-minute halves, served as a preview for the upcoming World Humanoid Robot Games scheduled for August in Beijing.
