NextImg:'Utter humiliation!' Richard Tice says Labour has 'damaged' Britain by 'abandoning Israel'

Richard Tice has blasted the UK Government over its role in the Gaza ceasefire, saying Britain has been “utterly humiliated” on the international stage.

Speaking to GB News, the Reform UK deputy leader said the Labour Government had “abandoned and betrayed Israel” in a moment of need.

“I was in Israel just two weeks ago,” Mr Tice said. “I met President Herzog, I met the Foreign Minister. The whole of Israel is furious with Keir Starmer and this Government.”

He described the Prime Minister’s upcoming trip to the signing ceremony in Sharm El Sheikh as “literally gate-crashing Donald Trump’s success".

The comments come after the Labour Government’s claim that Britain "played a key role" in securing the Gaza ceasefire.

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has defended the UK’s role in efforts to end the conflict in Gaza, where a fragile truce is now holding following a deal brokered by US President Donald Trump.

Richard Tice explained: "Let me tell you, the whole of Israel, from the top of Government to the public, are furious with Keir Starmer and this Labour Government for abandoning and betraying Israel in their time of need.

"Frankly, for our Prime Minister to go to that signing ceremony, he’s literally gate-crashing Donald Trump’s success.

"It’s just ridiculous. We now have confirmation from the American administration that recognising a state of Palestine actually hindered the ceasefire and peace negotiations."

He added: "Frankly, we’ve hindered the process recently. We’ve been utterly humiliated on the international stage.

"The US ambassador to Israel even tweeted that Bridget Phillipson’s comments defending Britain were delusional.

"Under this Government, I don’t have much hope, but under a Reform UK Government, we will restore Britain to the top table and lead from the front."

As part of the deal to secure the hostages’ release, around 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences in Israel are set to be freed.

A further 1,700 Gazans detained by Israeli authorities will also be released.

Among those being freed are high-profile figures convicted over deadly attacks on Israeli civilians, including Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Saadat.

Of the 48 hostages still held in Gaza, only 20 are believed to be alive and they have now been returned to Israel.

Later on Monday, Mr Trump will travel to Egypt for an international summit aiming to end the war.
