A 40C blowtorch fire blast sizzling Europe will flicker into Britain as the nation braces for the next heatwave.
After the erratic weather dishes up another blast of wind and rain ahead of the weekend, temperatures will rocket.
Southern Britain could push past 30C in the run-up to mid-month, although it will be cooler further north.
A nationwide split this weekend will leave parts of the country in the wind and rain while ushering back summer elsewhere.
Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick said: “We will see a slow increase in temperatures over the weekend, reaching 25C or 26C in the south, but always more windy and cooler in the north in the wind and under the cloud.
“Much of England and Wales is starting to feel that heat on Sunday, with temperatures pushing into the high 20Cs, but cooler and cloudier in Scotland and Northern Ireland with some rain on the cards.
“On Monday, there is a good chance that we could start to push into the low-30Cs.”

But hot weather will arrive in conjunction with the remains of a tropical storm heading into the west from the United States.
Tropical Storm Dexter will whip up in its death throes a bout of heavy rain and strong winds.
The storm will split into two low-pressure systems as it hits Britain, putting Scotland and the north most at risk.

Criswick said: “All eyes are on an area of low pressure in the western part of the Atlantic, which is Tropical Storm Dexter.
“As it moves closer, it becomes elongated into two separate areas of low pressure, and depending on what happens, amplifies what could potentially happen into next week.
“On Monday, we are likely to see that wet and possibly windy weather push in from the west, and there will be some showers across eastern areas, but there is low confidence as to where exactly that rain will be and where the strongest winds are going to be.
“Most of the models agree that there is going to be some wet and windy weather pushing its way into the UK early into next week.”

Hot weather next week could plunge Britain into the fourth heatwave of summer, breaching three or more days of threshold temperatures.
Hot air from the Continent, where temperatures are pushing 40C, will waft into the UK as high pressure builds.
Weather models suggest hot weather will hold out through the week and beyond the middle of August.
Issuing an alert to Britons just before 10am, the Met Office and UK Health Standards Authority warned hot weather conditions are on the way.
A yellow heat health alert will come into force for all regions except the North East and North West at 12pm on August 11 until 6pm on August 13.
Jim Dale, meteorologist for British Weather Services and social commentator, said: “We are likely to see three or more days of very high temperatures, and as this is likely to breach thresholds, which is 28C in London, we are looking at another heatwave.
“This will be driven by what is coming out of the Continent, and by next weekend we could be looking at the low-30Cs.
“Further north, however, will be cooler, and it looks like Scotland and parts of northern Britian may miss out on the very high temperatures.”
