Two women and a man have been charged with showing support for proscribed terrorist group Palestine Action, following a protest in central London on July 5.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed 53-year-old Fiona Maclean and 71-year-olds Jeremy Shippam and Judi Murray have been charged.

Frank Ferguson, head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said: "Following a review of the evidence provided by the Metropolitan Police Service, we have authorised charges against two women and a man under section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000."

Ferguson confirmed the force plans to send case files to the Crown Prosecution Service for 26 other people arrested on the same day.

All three defendants will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, September 16.

Ferguson added: "I would strongly advise anyone planning to come to London this weekend to show support for Palestine Action to think about the potential criminal consequences of their actions."

Hundreds of people are expected to demonstrate at the weekend in London in support of Palestine Action.

The Met Police said: "Anyone showing support for the group can expect to be arrested.

"We are aware that the organisers of Saturday's planned protest are encouraging hundreds of people to turn out with the intention of placing a strain on the police and the wider criminal justice system,"

The organisers, a pressure group called Defend Our Juries, deny that their protest will overwhelm the police and justice system.

The group said: "If we are allowed to protest peacefully and freely, then that is no bother to anyone."

More than 500 people are expected to protest over the weekend.

Palestine Action was banned under terrorism laws after two aircraft were damaged at RAF Brize Norton.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper called the vandalism "disgraceful" and accused the group of a "long history of unacceptable criminal damage".

The ban means that membership of or support for Palestine Action is a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

More than 200 people supporting the group were arrested at Defend Our Juries protests across the UK last month.
