Donald Trump's hopes of once again running the White House received a mini boost today after the Michigan Supreme Court rejected an attempt to ban the former US President from standing in the next election.

Efforts had been made to bar the 77-year-old from having his name on the ballot paper in the US state.

The decision is in contrast to a ruling in Colorado, where just weeks ago Trump was blocked from its primary ballot because of his role in the January 6 Capitol riot.
