Budget carrier easyJet has announced its most extensive summer schedule to date, with more than 82,000 flights planned throughout the school holiday period. It will offer discounts up to £200 on holidays between July and September.

The airline and its tour operator division, easyJet holidays, will transport approximately seven million British travellers on upwards of 45,000 UK services this summer.

Spanish resorts remain the top choice for British holidaymakers, with Palma de Mallorca and Malaga leading demand. Portuguese destination Faro also features prominently among bookings, whilst domestically, Edinburgh and Belfast attract the highest passenger numbers for those visiting friends and family within the UK.

The expansion includes seven new Airbus A320 family jets stationed across Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and the carrier's newest UK hub at London Southend.

Britons can get discounted flights to Faro, Portugal

The airline has launched 44 fresh routes this season, introducing three entirely new destinations: Sal in Cape Verde, Rimini in Italy and Tbilisi in Georgia.

The summer schedule offers 33 million seats from UK airports, representing an increase of 500,000 compared to the previous year. Extended leisure routes to Turkey, Egypt, Cape Verde, Tunisia and Morocco have been added to meet growing demand for longer-haul destinations.

Peak travel activity will occur on September 5, when the airline expects to operate nearly 2,000 flights carrying approximately 300,000 passengers. For easyJet holidays, the busiest departure date falls on July 30, with 96,000 package holidaymakers setting off.
