Ange Postecoglou’s second season as Tottenham manager has “been a disaster” and he can have no complaints about his sacking.
That is the opinion of a Tottenham Hotspur insider who waded in shortly after the club announced his sacking.
Postecoglou was relieved of his duties despite ending the club’s 17-year trophy drought by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final last month.
But GB News regular and Tottenham stadium announcer Paul Coyte said the team’s poor Premier League showing cannot be ignored.

“There’s been two schools of thought on this, there’s been fans who think he deserved the right to go again in the Premier League”, he said on GB News.
“I don’t think ‘deserve’ and ‘right’ mean anything in football these days and as far as the Premier League is concerned, it’s been a disaster.
“It has been the worst season we have had since we were relegated in 1977. There has been 22 defeats.
“You have to say, yes, the Europa League was won. The first trophy in 17 years and the first European trophy in 41 years.

“What about the players? The players have won that.”
Coyte delivered his brutal assessment despite brushing shoulders with the 59-year-old at last month's trophy parade.
“I don’t look too happy there”, he remarked as an image of the pair was shown on the People’s Channel.
“I asked him how he was feeling and he said the famous line, ‘in so many TV shows, series three is better than season two’.

Tottenham’s Europa League triumph means they will take part in next season’s Champions League, and they will now be looking for a new figurehead to spear that campaign.
Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva have emerged as the early frontrunners to replace the Australian.
While Frank has never won a major trophy as a manager, his attractive style of football has solidified Brentford as a reliable Premier League outfit against the odds.
Silva won the Greek title with Olympiacos and similarly to Frank, has established Fulham as a credible force in the top flight after achieving promotion in 2022.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will undoubtedly face probing as to why Postecoglou was left in the dark for over a week regarding his future.
The dismissal will cost Tottenham approximately £4 million in compensation.
Postecoglou also earned a bonus of around £2 million for winning the Europa League and securing Champions League qualification.
