Tesla's used car sales in the UK hit a record-breaking high in January with 2,442 units sold across all models, according to exclusive reports.
The figure marked a significant increase from the previous month's 1,622 sales and represented the highest monthly total since 2024.
This surge continued a strong upward trend seen throughout 2024, where monthly sales consistently exceeded 1,500 units from March onwards.
In January, the car brand’s performance showed a dramatic year-on-year improvement, more than doubling the 1,144 units sold in January 2024.

TESLAThe record-breaking month comes despite recent speculation about potential negative consumer sentiment towards the brand and its owner, Elon Musk.
The Model 3 saw 1,751 units sold in January 2025, while the Model Y achieved 527 sales. These two models have consistently dominated Tesla's used car market, with the Model 3 showing particularly strong performance throughout the period.
Meanwhile, the Model Y has seen steady growth in sales volume, rising from just 42 units in May 2023 to its January 2025 figure of 527.
Both models have demonstrated increasing sales velocity, despite average days on the market dropping significantly since early 2023.
The Model S and Model X maintained more modest sales figures, with 85 and 79 units sold, respectively in January 2025.
Alastair Campbell of Marketcheck UK addressed recent speculation about Tesla sales being affected by Elon Musk's social media engagement with the UK Government.
Campbell told GB News: "There has been a lot of speculation about Tesla car sales since Elon Musk's involvement in engaging indirectly with the UK government on social media. The assumption is, by some media outlets, that this is deeply unpopular with the British people."
However, Campbell noted that their data shows no negative impact on used Tesla sales. "If anything, the opposite is happening," he said, pointing to the increasing sales volumes.

The data demonstrated that used unit sales, particularly for Model Y and Model 3, reached new heights with faster turnover rates.
Despite the strong sales performance, the data revealed a consistent downward trend in prices across Tesla's used car range. The Model 3's average price has fallen significantly, dropping from £31,064 in May 2023 to £21,601 in January 2025 which helped aid in the sales numbers.
Similar trends were visible in the Model Y, which saw prices decrease from £47,068 to £32,723 over the same period. The Model X experienced a decline from £51,934 to £39,199, while the Model S dropped from £34,024 to £26,983.
According to Marketcheck UK, this price movement is expected, given the increased market supply and the absence of government incentives for used buyers. "Price is a reflection of volumes and demand so we would say that this is to be expected as there are no Government incentives for used buyers and more cars in the market," Campbell explained.
Campbell offered a final observation on the apparent disconnect between political discourse and consumer behaviour. "It could, of course, just be that car buyers don't see politics as a reason to choose or not choose a car," he said.
