NextImg:Tesco banking app down: Customers slam 'utterly useless' service after being locked out of accounts

Tesco Bank's mobile app and website have gone down this morning in a blow to customers.

Some 53 per cent of the bank's customers were locked out of their accounts when using mobile banking, according to complaints tracking website DownDetector.

Over 606 people have reported issues in accessing banking services since 7:12 this morning.

Furthermore, 30 per cent of customers were unable to access online banking services today.

Despite today's disruption, Tesco has confirmed that its mobile and online services are no longer down and are operational.

Taking to social media, those affected by the outage slammed the banking service being provided by Tesco Bank.

On X, formerly Twitter, user, said: "What happened to your banking app?"

"Can't log in, hangs and fails, uninstalling/reinstalling gives constant 'sorry something went wrong messages.

"Utterly useless. One star rating from multiple customers & you don't acknowledge or seem to have any plans to fix it."

Another added: "Tesco Bank help? But you don't actually help. Like today when I've been trying to login to the app to check transactions."

App keeps telling me my connection is weak. Actually it's Tesco Bank that has the problem! Why not communicate via your Help account?"

This latest technical issues comes amid a wave of outages which have impacted high street banks and businesses in recent months.

Recently, Santander apologised to customers after many were left unable to access their accounts due to app issues.

As well as this, Greggs were unable to process payments earlier this year due to an issue with its payment system.

GB News has contacted Tesco Bank for comment.
