



A teenage boy suspected of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl has been arrested.
The schoolgirl was found "unresponsive" at a house in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire before she later died in hospital.
West Yorkshire Police arrested a 16-year-old on suspicion of raping and murdering the girl.
The boy was also arrested on suspicion of raping anther girl, aged 16, in the Huddersfield area.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the boy was "arrested on suspicion of murder and rape in connection with the death of the girl in hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning".
"The girl's death is currently being treated by West Yorkshire Police as unexplained, and police inquiries are underway to determine the circumstances," the spokesman added.
The ambulance service was called to a house in Sheepridge Road in Huddersfield on Monday night after reports a girl was unresponsive.

A police investigation was established shortly after.
The spokesman said "police were called by the ambulance service ... at 11.36pm on Monday 11 August to a report that a teenage girl was unresponsive".
"The 13-year-old was taken to hospital where she sadly died in the early hours of Tuesday morning," the spokesman added.
"A 16-year-old boy ... remains in police custody.

"He has also been arrested on suspicion of another offence of rape relating to a 16-year-old girl from an unrelated incident elsewhere in Kirklees."
DCI Stacey Atkinson, from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said “We are continuing to conduct a number of enquiries today following the death" of the 13-year-old girl.
“A post mortem was not able to determine how she died," she said.
"We continue to treat her death as unexplained at this time, pending more enquiries."
Ms Atkinson added that the inquiries were "complex" and "likely to be lengthy".
"As we work to fully understand the circumstances of the girl's death," she added.
"Specially trained officers are supporting her family at this time.”
