A Christian street preacher who was shut down in central London has warned of a rise in "persecution" against Christians in Britain, declaring they are the "most persecuted religion" in the country.

Speaking to GB News, Monique Bailey recalled her ordeal outside King's Cross Station and claimed she "would not have been treated the same" if she was a Muslim preacher.

Bailey, who leads Mad 4 Jesus Ministries, spoke to GB News in an exclusive interview after being shut down by British Transport Police outside King's Cross Station.

She posted a video on Instagram of the incident, revealing a female British Transport Police officer telling a group of Christians to stop spreading the gospel outside the station, claiming they were "too loud".

Joining GB News host Matt Goodwin to discuss the incident further, Bailey said her group were told they were on "private property", despite setting up outside of the designated barriers.

She explained: "We basically put our amp just before the barrier, then security came and said, you can't be there, this is private property. But you can be, before the barrier.

"So I started worshiping, I normally sing first and then I preach, and then I gave it to my mother. That's when the police came."

Recalling the interaction her group had with the officer, Bailey said: "She was like do you have a permit here? And we were like the security told us we could be here. I'm not totally sure of all the laws to do with street preaching, so I didn't have that knowledge at the time, so she was like, you can't be here.

"After we discussed that with her, we packed up our stuff, and she just started saying comments, which was odd. She said this is wrong, I don't agree with it."

Asked by Matt if she believes they were treated "more harshly" because they were Christian, Bailey said: "I believe many people have seen that there has been more persecution on Christians more than any other religion.

"So it goes to show that something's quite odd in the UK right now, with the police coming against Christians and what we are there to preach about."

Warning of more Christians facing persecution in the future, Bailey concluded: "I don't think it would be the same if I was a Muslim preacher. I do know, of course, every religion gets something thrown at them.

"But I do think, of course, Christianity is the most persecuted, and I do think we will see it more."

A British Transport Police spokesman said in a statement: "We are aware of a video posted on social media showing an interaction involving an officer outside King’s Cross railway station.

"Officers were on patrol at the station when they came across a group preaching on private land with a loudspeaker, which requires permission from Network Rail, and as such they asked them to leave.

"We fully appreciate anyone’s right to religious expression, and the incident in full is currently being reviewed by a senior officer."
