The research by credit card brand Aqua analysed various metrics including accommodation costs, popularity, rainfall and average temperatures to determine the most affordable destinations across the country.

With many Britons opting to holiday closer to home, these budget-friendly locations offer excellent value during the spring season.

These prices represent the cost of weekend accommodation for two people, offering excellent value compared to London, where the average weekend stay costs £151.

The research highlights coastal destinations as particularly budget-friendly, with six seaside locations featuring in the top 10.

Plymouth, the top budget destination, is home to the historic Barbican district with its cobbled streets and maritime heritage.

Visitors can also explore Smeaton's Tower lighthouse, offering "panoramic views of the coastline".

In second-place Blackpool, families can enjoy the famous Blackpool Illuminations and vintage rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The seaside town also offers scenic pier strolls, perfect for a spring getaway.
