Sheffield city centre was flooded this morning after a burst water main sent gallons of water cascading into the air.

A construction worker accidentally pierced the pipe on Fargate to cause the accidental shower of water.

Video footage shared on social media showed rapid water flow heading down the street with locals carefully trying to navigate around the stream to avoid getting wet.

Posted on X, formerly Twitter, the video caption read: "Someone is having a bad day."

Yorkshire Water have confirmed to local media that they were contacted by the contractors on the site, who requested assistance after the pipe was burst.

Early reports have also suggested that some local premises are now without toilet facilities.
