



A seven-month-old baby girl has died after being bitten by a pet dog at her home in Coventry.
Emergency services were called to the property after 3.00pm on June 16 and the girl was taken to hospital, where she tragically died from her wounds.
The infant had received serious injuries after she was bitten on the head by the family's dog inside the property on Shorncliffe Road.
West Midlands Police said in a statement: "She received treatment at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital for further treatment. Tragically, she died a short time later. Our thoughts remain with her family at this devastating time.

"The pet dog, which isn’t classed as a dangerous breed, was removed from the home on Sunday and humanely destroyed."
A spokesperson said the police are in the initial stages of their investigation and enquires are ongoing.
