MPs have rejected the first three Lords amendments of Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda asylum bill.

The House of Commons have voted on a series of 10 amendments of the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum & Immigration) bill that were passed this month.

Amendment one of the Bill has been voted down 328 to 250 – a majority of 78.

The amendment was issued to ensure the Bill complies with domestic and international law.

MPs voted 324 to 253 – a majority of 71 – to also reject Lords amendment two.

This amendment was put forward to guarantee that Parliament cannot declare Rwanda a safe country until the treaty with its promised safeguards is completed.
