Vladimir Putin has agreed to stop key Ukraine airstrikes on the country's major infrastructure after speaking with President Donald Trump this afternoon. 

The Russian President has ordered his military to halt strikes on specific targets for 30 days.

He also agreed to a prisoner swap deal after the hour and a half discussion with the US President.After the call, the Kremlin announced that the meeting included a "detailed and frank exchange of views" on the Ukraine war.

Moscow also "confirmed [Putin's] fundamental commitment to a peaceful resolution" which was "comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term".The Kremlin had emphasised one of the President's key conditions to mediate the conflict via political and diplomatic methods would require military aid to be completely paused as well as the end of intelligence sharing with Kyiv.
