Various Toshiba AC adapters for laptops have been urgently recalled due to fire and burn risks, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has announced.

The safety watchdog advised those who own Toshiba laptop adapters to check their devices.

Type: Electrical appliances and equipment - AC Adapters

Brand: Toshiba

Country of Origin: China

Product Description: Various Toshiba-branded AC adapters with DC-in plugs used to charge laptops. Please note this is an expansion of the recall announced in 2018, with additional models now identified as being affected by the hazard. Customers who previously checked and determined that their AC adapter was not affected by the June 2018 recall must now re-check their AC adapter.

If your AC adapter is affected, 'turn off the laptop and unplug the AC adapter immediately'

If affected, they should "turn off the laptop and unplug the AC adapter immediately".

These adapters pose significant safety concerns, prompting swift action to protect users from potential hazards.

Indeed, the OPSS stated: "It has been identified that the laptop AC adapters can overheat and spark, presenting a risk of fire and burns."

According to the Government organisation, the adapters do not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Owners can verify if their adapter is affected by using Dynabook's manual checker tool, which will confirm eligibility for a replacement.

The checker includes detailed guidance on how to locate your adapter's part and serial number.

Affected customers can access the Dynabook recall page for further information about the replacement process.

For additional support, affected shoppers can contact Dynabook Customer Support directly through their website.
