Princess Kate presented The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at a prestigious London event this afternoon.

The ceremony took place at London's 180 Studios and was hosted by the British Fashion Council.

The award aims to provide continuing recognition of the cultural and trade role the British design and fashion industry has played throughout the Queen's reign.

Each year, it is presented to an emerging British fashion designer who demonstrates exceptional talent and originality.

Recipients must also show value to the community and strong sustainable policies.

The award is part of the BFC Foundation's work to support the future growth and success of British fashion.

The Foundation focuses on education, grant-giving, and business mentoring for emerging designers.

Kate then met with recipients and shortlisted designers from various BFC Foundation initiatives.

These included BFC NEWGEN, BFC Fashion Trust, BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund and BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund.

The Princess later presented The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design alongside BFC CEOs Caroline Rush and Laura Weir.

These initiatives provide designers with crucial financial support, showcasing opportunities and mentoring as they build their brands.

The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design was first announced and presented to Richard Quinn in February 2018.

This historic moment marked Queen Elizabeth II's first visit to London Fashion Week.

The award provides a legacy of support for the industry, recognising fashion's role in diplomacy, culture and communications throughout the late Queen's reign.

This was not the Princess of Wales's first time presenting the award.

Kate previously presented the honour to British menswear designer Saul Nash in 2022.
