A new book has made fresh claims about the bridesmaid dress dispute between Meghan Markle and Princess Kate before the Sussexes' 2018 royal wedding.
Tom Quinn's "Yes, Ma'am: The Secret Life Of Royal Servants" claims both women were "really upset" during the incident.
The account contradicts previous versions of events shared by Meghan in her Oprah Winfrey interview and Prince Harry in his memoir "Spare".
According to Quinn, both Kate and Meghan were "crying their eyes out" during the heated exchange.

A former member of staff told the author: "The truth is that during the discussions about the bridesmaid's dress, Meghan said a few things she regretted and Kate said a few things she later regretted but it was all in the heat of the moment."
"Both women were crying their eyes out!" the unnamed employee added.
The source explained that the incident was "subtly altered" and "made more significant than it really is".
This portrayal differs markedly from previous accounts of the pre-wedding disagreement.

Meghan's account to Oprah Winfrey painted a different picture of the incident.
She insisted she was the one hurt in the exchange, not Kate.
"It wasn't a confrontation," Meghan told Oprah. "I don't think it's fair to her to get into the details of that, because she apologised."
Meghan explained that Kate was upset about something but later took responsibility and even brought her flowers.
"What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn't do but that happened to me," Meghan added.
Prince Harry's memoir "Spare" offered yet another perspective on the incident.
According to Harry, Kate messaged Meghan about concerns over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress being too big.
Meghan suggested taking Charlotte to a palace tailor for adjustments.
Harry wrote that when he returned home, he found his fiancée "sobbing on the kitchen floor" from stress.
He noted that Kate later brought flowers and a card as an apology.

The disagreement occurred during the already stressful final days of wedding preparations.
According to Quinn's book, the incident became a "marker for all the other problems that Meghan had with Kate and with William and other members of the family".
Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously claimed Kate found it "mortifying" that their dispute had reached the press.
Kate reportedly never wanted the disagreement to become public knowledge.
