Triple murderer Axel Rudakubana refused to appear in the dock for his sentencing at court after earlier outbursts disrupted proceedings.

The 18-year-old was twice ordered to leave the courtroom after shouting that he "felt ill" and demanding to see paramedics.

Rudakubana shouted: "I can't remain quiet. I haven't eaten for ten days. I feel ill. I'm not going to remain quiet," during the hearing.

When the judge attempted to continue, the defendant yelled "Don't continue" before being removed. The judge noted that two paramedics had already assessed Rudakubana and deemed him fit to continue with proceedings.

Rudakubana has been sentenced to a minimum of 52 years in prison for the "ferocious" and "sadistic" knife rampage at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.

Justice Julian Goose told the court that Rudakubana would only be released if a Parole Board deems him no longer a threat to the public. "It is likely he will never be released and he will be in custody for all of his life," the judge said.

The attack targeted young girls attending the dance class, as well as two adults who attempted to intervene.

Bebe King, aged six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, aged seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, aged nine suffered unsurvivable injuries in the attack.

Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC told the packed courtroom that the attack on the victims could only be described as "sadistic".
